Broadmead is located east of the Patricia Bay Highway (Highway No 17), west of Blenkinsop Road, South of Cordova Bay and a 12-minute drive north of downtown Victoria.
Broadmead is a very unique neighborhood of Saanich East. It’s built on a number of modest hills, is heavily treed and has many rocky outcroppings. Broadmead contains numerous green spaces and trails.
When Broadmead was developed in the 1970s and 1980s, a conscious effort was made to retain as much of the forest as possible. Restrictions were put in place to control various aspects of the housing. Exterior house and roof colors are to blend naturally with the environment. There are also minimum size restrictions. The result is an “earthy looking” neighborhood of larger than average, fairly upscale homes on larger than average size lots.
While most of the housing in Broadmead is single family, there are also a generous number of townhomes.
Rithet’s Bog, the last remaining peat bog on the Saanich Peninsula, is located at the southern end of Broadmead.
