Bordered by Rockland to west, Saanich to the north, and the Ocean to the south and east, Oak Bay is one of the most desirable neighborhoods for families in part because of its schools –  the recently renovated Oak Bay High School as well as two renowned private schools – St. Michaels University School and Glenlyon Norfolk Junior School. The University of Victoria and Camosun College are both located on the border of Oak Bay and the neighboring municipality of Saanich.

Oak Bay Village is considered the hub of this municipality and is lined with boutiques, galleries, restaurants, coffee shops as well as all of the must haves, including:  a library, community center, grocery stores, pharmacy, butcher and baker. Homes in Oak Bay tend to be among the priciest in Greater Victoria.
